PAINTBRUSH RESIDENCE
SCHEMATIC DESIGN

ADOBE WITH A VIEW.
Set in Albuquerque's rich high-desert landscape, this 1970s partial adobe single-family residence was full of character but no longer met the needs of the family living there. We approached the remodel with a deep respect for the original structure while reimagining the home to support modern living. A comprehensive construction document package was developed, outlining six interconnected projects - ranging from additions to interior reconfigurations.
The remodel included the addition of two new bedrooms, a full primary suite gut and remodel, a full kitchen remodel, among smaller projects. The primary suite was conceived as a private retreat, complete with a spa-like bathroom and direct access to the outdoors. At the heart of the home, the kitchen was filly reworked to creat a more open, functional layout. barriers were removed to improve flow and visibility.
I collaborated closely with the family to develop a detailed material / color palette that feels warm, personal, an unique. Drawing from the surrounding high-desert landscape, we layered muted earth tones, soft woods, and tactile finishes to bring a sense of depth and calm. The paplette not only ties the new and existing elements together but also reflects the family's personality and the spirit of the home.
