MAPLE COFFEE
SCHEMATIC DESIGN

MILLENIAL HAVEN.
After being approached by a young family seeking funding for a new commercial venture, I was tasked with the schematic design of the new Maple Coffee shop in northeast Albuquerque.
Slated for an existing shell space, the overall goals of the design centered on creating a warm, welcoming, millennial focused gathering space. A delicate, soft palette of red and pinks harkened back to the namesake of the business and the style of Canadian coffee to be served, while the lush terrazzo and pink marbles evoke a big city hang-out geared toward at young professionals.
The "forest" of maple trees expand the length of the north wall in the form of a vinyl graphic but become 3 dimensional in a maple wood screen and "canopy" that establishes an intimate lounge area within the oversized commercial shell. The "tree canopy" is multi-purposed supporting decorative plants, lighting, and as they wrap behind the bar, a series of menu boards and merchandise shelving.
