GARRETT SMITH LTD.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

2009 - 2014
Intern Architect
Prior to licensure, I spent four and a half years as an Intern Architect with Garrett Smith Ltd (GSL). These formative years instilled in me a work ethic and understanding of the profession that still resonates in my work today. Primarily responsible for graphic work, BIM modeling, and marketing efforts, I was also placed in several Project Management roles, including multiple Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) applications totaling over 200+ units. The success of these design efforts and extensive application packages led to several multi-million dollar projects for the firm. I also assisted in CA work for several other Sandia Laboratory, housing, and educational projects.
My time with GSL was bittersweet. The stumbling around and stresses of a young designer, low on the food chain, paired with the immense growth necessary to complete my internship and prepare me for testing. This professional experience opened me up to the sheer magnitude of knowledge necessary to succeed as an Architect but also gave me my love of marketing and housing based projects, particularly those aimed at solving homelessness and the housing crisis.
Garrett Smith retired and sold GSL in the Spring of 2014 at which time I went to work for Baker A+D.
